Bring @water{1½%cups} and a large pinch of salt to a boil in a #small pot{}. Drain and rinse @kidney beans{15%oz}. Halve, peel, and chop @yellow onion{1%unit}. Once boiling, add @basmati rice{½%cup}, cover, and reduce to a simmer ~{20%minutes} until tender.

Core, seed, and remove ribs from @green bell pepper{1%unit}, then finely chop. Mince or grate @garlic{2%cloves}. Chop @green olives{2%oz} and @oregano{1%tsp} leaves.

Heat @olive oil{1%tbsp} in a #large pan{} over medium heat. Add onion and bell pepper and cook, tossing, ~{5%minutes} until softened. Add garlic and cook ~{30%seconds} until fragrant. Season with @salt{½%tsp} and @pepper{¼%tsp}.

Add @ground beef{8%oz} to pan and cook, breaking up pieces, ~{5%minutes} until browned and cooked through. Season with salt and pepper.

Add olives, @golden raisins{2%tbsp}, @cinnamon{½%tsp}, and oregano to pan. Cook ~{2%minutes}, then stir in @crushed tomatoes{1½%cups} and @chili flakes{½%tsp}. Simmer picadillo ~{10%minutes}, then taste and season with salt and pepper as needed.

While picadillo simmers, stir beans into rice to heat through.

Serve picadillo over rice and beans.
